I am based in the heart of Somerset, very close to many of the WWT & RSPB reserves such as Ham Wall, Shapwick, Westhay, and Greylake. Just 50 minutes away is Steart Marshes, another fabulous Reserve. In our own village of Compton Dundon, we have some great wildlife areas where we regularly see Buzzards, Red Kites, Badgers, Kestrels, Deer, and more. We even have a small reserve just at the back of the Forge! I also know a number of private hides in the area if that is something you are interested in. Please do have a look at some of the images on this site as nearly all of them have been taken in the village or at the local Reserves.
I am now offering a holiday let specifically for photographers & birdwatchers visiting the reserves. Our fabulous barn conversion is the perfect accommodation to explore all that Somerset wildlife has to offer. I am always on hand to chat about photography (it is my passion). And, should you need any help with any locations or equipment recommendations, I can advise as necessary. I even have some extra gear here so if you need to borrow something for your stay, I may be able to help.
More information about the 'Old Forge' can be found below.
Many thanks.
