I can't believe I am 59 years of age and still lovin’ my job. It is one of the things I am truly grateful for in my life. From the time I was given my first camera (an old Olympus Trip...film of course), I knew what I wanted to do. Having that direction has made making career decisions easy to take. Now, being self-employed and running my own show in the world of Somerset photography is not an easy option. But, for me, there really was no alternative. Over the years, my job has taken me from the deserts of Egypt to the plains of South Africa and all over Europe, capturing wildlife and scenery along the way. There have been many ups and downs over the years. Some of my business decisions have not always worked out. However, others have, and the fact that I am still here says that not all has been bad. Far from it. I was there right at the front of the digital revolution. Although I miss my old darkroom, there is not a great deal I miss about film. I also like the way digital imaging has opened the door to photography for so many. So, hopefully, I will still have a few years to indulge in my passion. Heaven knows what will be around in 10 years' time. Fingers crossed I will still have some of the best kit available and the opportunity to travel and see our beautiful world. Just writing this has made me realize just how lucky I am...
